"Sail away" Onsie

So this is a project i did back when my daughter was newborn.
Clothing for children here in the Dominican republic is kinda expensive, you know if u want Carters brands or even walmart brands. They're twice as much here :( UGHHH.... So what i did was went to the store and bought a 3pack of wrap onsies for about $5 and some change. But as we all know, plain onsies are.. well, PLAIN and boring! I've seen lots of cute ideas online and on many blogs. So some how i got the idea of cutting out pieces of felt and sewing them by hand with embroidery floss on to the onsie!
I made this SAIL BOAT one for a friends son (who by the way is only 1 week older than Izzie)
i cut out Half a circle in the navy blue felt and then two triangles in the yellow felt. and a tiny red triangle to symbolize the little flag on the boat.
Here in DR they don't have JOANNS and all those great crafts/ fabric stores, so i had to figure out a way to do my appliques without.. umm.. that stuff ppl always say to use that hold the applique in place for you to sew peacefully.
ANYWAY.. so i used liquid silicone to glue down the felt, but not around the borders, or else the embroidery needle and thread could get all sticky!
And there you go, a "Sail away" wrap onsie

Cheap-O DEPO COASTER

Hey blog land, i have sooo been lost for a while, i have so many projects i keep on piling on, and just cant find the time to do ONE!! ok, i know an almost 4 yr old and an almost ONE {YAYY!!}yr old are alot of work, you know with baby Izzie teething, Lil R in school and being a handful himself.. its ALOT of work!!
ok, well for starters, i have a nice simple tutorial i made up from seeing so many wonderful coaster tutorials, u know, something SIMPLE!!
ok.. get this, CAN COASTER! {not the actual can itself, but the top part}
for this to work out u actually need a can opener that opens the top from the bottom of the rim! i got mine from IKEA here in Santo Domingo, DR. But here is a link so u can see the can opener!
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40152355

This can opener allows you to cut under the rim as i said, that way you dont have a super shape pizza cuter on your hands! {safety first}

Then you make sure its nice and clean and paint it. Seeing that unless its with finger paints, im really no expert, and they dont have all the craft stores they do back home {the U.S}, i had to wing it for this}
Sooo, lucky me i have nail polishes!! a regular black,  and a white one for doing designs, you know with the fine tip!
There it is pained black, air drying on my lap!
Next its time for a little design!!! {Yeyy!}

Nice and simple for my test run!
Now let that dry, then glue some felt on the bottom! You can use a glue gun {or like me, use liquid silicone glue}

{Sorry i was kind of on my last bit of felt! hahaa :-P }

Well, that was my 1st attempt at a tutorial! i figured i could give it a go since for maybe a year and some change ive been following so many cute blogs!!! You should see my laptop and iphones bookmark bars, can we say.. FULL!
well thanks for reading, leave me a comment so i know someone dropped by! :D
